Description

The Key English Test (KET) is for people who can use everyday written and spoken English at a basic level.

KET reflects the use of language in real life and is accepted by many employers and educational institutions worldwide as proof of ability to use basic English. It is developed by Cambridge ESOL and run in March, May, June, July (computer-based only), September (computer-based only), November and December each year.

KET consists of three papers testing the four skills of Reading and Writing (1 hour 10mins), Listening (30mins) and Speaking (10mins). A computer-based version of the test is also available.

The exam is designed for candidates who are at the A2 level of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, equivalent to IHWO level 3.

This means that if you pass KET, your level of English is good enough to communicate effectively in real-life situations using basic English. It also helps to prepare you to take Cambridge exams at a higher level such as PET and FCE.

Around 1.75 million people in over 135 countries take Cambridge ESOL exams each year. For more information about the KET exam go to the Cambridge ESOL website at http://www.cambridgeesol.org/exams/general-english/ket.html.
