School building

The school

International House La Spezia was founded in 1980 and it is situated in the historic town centre.
Its position allows students to attend their course and visit the various sites within a couple of minutes.
The teachers are qualified native speakers.
The school has four main classrooms and a large Study Centre equipped with videos, televisions, computers and listening equipment. There is one large reception, well-equipped staffroom, one executive classroom (now also our Internet room). Since January 1999 a separate Internet room has been set up for student self-access and eventual Internet Language Courses.

The school in Sarzana is situated in the centre of town in a second floor flat. Although it only has two classrooms, a small reception and a small staffroom area, it is well equipped and offers the same programmes and Study Centre facilities as La Spezia.

From June to September the courses are held in the village of Monterosso, in the area of the Cinque Terre. Classes take place in the village school. Monterosso is divided in two by a promontory on which stands an ex-convent, which is one of our accommodation options.
On one side there's the modern part of the village where you will arrive with the train and on the other side there is the old village.
The school is situated in the old part of the village, near the town hall called "Comune".
The Landscape of this area is harsh and wild and even the coast reflects this nature. High cliffs reaching down to the cobalt blue depths of the sea hide minute shingle beaches or tiny ports. Monterosso offers a larger sandy beach with many facilities.
