The City

Ranked by UNESCO as one of the top places in the world to live, Vancouver is a beautiful, safe and friendly city located between the Pacific Ocean and the Coastal Mountains. This location provides ideal conditions for a variety of outdoor activities, and opportunities to travel to places like Vancouver Island, the Rocky Mountains and Seattle. The nearby mountains, lakes, parks and beaches provide beautiful natural scenery and with its mild climate, Vancouver is one of the few places in the world where you can ski and golf on the same day! With a population of 2 million people, Vancouver offers a great variety of multicultural events and venues.

THE SCHOOL

Minutes from downtown, the school is located within walking distance of Kitsilano Beach, Granville Island, shops and restaurants and provides the ideal location for study and leisure. The school offers modern facilities, small classes, dynamic instructors and a breathtaking view of the city. Class sizes are limited to 13 max and the premises include 24 classrooms, a lunchroom, student lounges, a language lab and free internet access.

The Classes

IH Vancouver provides a flexible and varied schedule. Part-time and full-time programs are available and students can choose from General English, Test Preparation (TOEFL, TOEIC, Cambridge ESOL, IELTS), and elective courses. 8 levels of courses are offered, ensuring we have the right class for any level and any language need. Students may begin any Monday and finish any Friday. In additional to English Programs, IH Vancouver offers a number of alternative programs including Professional Internships, Work and Study/Travel, Teacher Training, Children's Adventure Program (ages 5-12), Junior Program (ages 13-17), University Foundation Program, Intuition Homestudy and more.

Accommodation

IH Vancouver's Housing Director assists students with any needs they may have during their stay. We offer 4 housing options year-round.
Homestay: a private room with full board (3 meals per day) in a Canadian family.
Student House: A large, 7-bedroom house with private bedroom, shared living areas, kitchen, dining room and bathroom.
Dormitory: An apartment-style option with private bedroom and shared common areas.
Accommodation in an apartment or hotel is available on request.

Social Program

IH Vancouver organizes a range of optional in-class, after-school, evening and weekend activities. Students can participate in events such as skiing, skating, beach BBQs, cultural festivals, sports clubs and much more. In addition, many weekend excursions to popular destinations such as Vancouver Island, the Rocky Mountains, camping, river-rafting etc are offered at student discount rates.

Transfers

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is 15km from the city centre with direct flights from many major cities. IH can provide airport pick-up services on request.
