The City

London is the capital city of the United Kingdom with over 7 million inhabitants.

The School

International House London is located in Piccadilly, in the heart of London, just opposite Green Park and a few minutes away from Hyde Park. The building, which used to be an old Gentleman's Club, dates back 200 years and you can still admire its beautiful hand painted ceilings. It also houses the headquarters of the International House World Organization. IH London's educational facilities include 50 classes with air conditioning, Language laboratories, a Selfaccess centre with more than 20 PCs with free e-mail and internet access, a restaurant and bar, library and bookshop, several common rooms, etc.

The Classes

The school offers a variety of courses with a different number of lessons a week. Each lesson lasts 55 minutes. Minimum age for all the courses is 16 and the maximum number of students per class is 12. There are classes from absolute beginners, although these students should enquire as to the availability of this level.

COURSE OPTIONS

General English Standard Course: 15 lessons in the morning (9:00-12:00)
General English Standard Plus Course: 20 lessons a week. 3 hours every morning from 9:00-12:00 + 1 special focus lesson from 12.15 - 13.10.
Intensive General English Course: 25 lessons a week. This is the 15-hour Standard course plus a choice of two options: either Study Skills or Let's Talk from 13.15 - 15.15.

ACCOMMODATION

The most frequent type of accommodation is Host family accommodation with a choice of half board, breakfast or self-catering. You must bear in mind that a host family can accommodate more than one student and that the distance between the house and the school can be considerable (zones 2 and 3 of the underground system). IH London also offers Residential Accommodation in central London, where students are self-catering and each room has its own bathroom. Some of these residences require a deposit on arrival, which will be reimbursed on departure.

TRANSFERS

There are very good transport connections to the school from every airport and train station in London. The underground station closest to the school is Green Park. However if you would rather be met at the airport and taken to your accommodation, the school offers an airport transfer service. The cost of this is 65GBP per one way transfer.
