IH Portland
The City
Portland, with a population of 500.000 people, is the largest city in the State of Oregon. The city is also the economic centre of the region and the base for the government services. This area is renowned for its great natural beauty (Mount Hood and Cascade Range with its snowed peaks, forests, lakes and rivers) and for being a paradise for the practice of sports: skiing, windsurf, rafting, golf, fishing, sailing, climbing, mountaineering, horse riding or cycling.
The School
International House Portland is based in a modern high-rise office building in the heart of the financial district of the city. It is just five minutes walk away from the river Willamette and just beside Waterfall Park.
CLASSES
There are intensive courses of 15, 20 or 25 classes of 50 minutes per week (8:30-11:30 for the first course, 8:30-12:30 for the second and 8:30- 14:30 for the third). Minimum age is 16 years of age and all levels are taught, including beginners. Minimum booking is 2 weeks of study. Maximum number of students per class is 12 except in summer when is 16.
Accommodation
Normally, the school arranges Host family accommodation for the students, based on a single room with breakfast or half board. Homestay students are picked up from the airport free of charge. There are also single rooms available in residential accommodation or in apartments with food included or not, but because of great demand it is advisable to check availability and price at the time of your booking. There is a price supplement during the months of July and August.
